2 children killed in head-on crash in Woodbury; driver seriously injured
WOODBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - Police say two young children were killed Saturday morning in a head-on crash on Vermont Route 14 in Woodbury.
Vermont troopers say the crash happened around 9:30 a.m. near Hattie Bell Road. Police say a Toyota Corolla, driven by Jonathan Ross, 38, of Danville, was traveling south when it failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center line and struck a northbound Ford F-250 truck head-on.
Ross was taken to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with serious injuries, police said. Two juvenile passengers in the Corolla — an 8-year-old and a 2-year-old, both from Danville — were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said one child was in a car seat and the other was seat-belted.
The driver of the Ford, Harry Dailey, 60, of Woodbury, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center. His passenger, Thomas Dailey, 29, of Woodbury, was seriously injured and also transported to the UVM Medical Center. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.
Vermont State Police said the crash remains under investigation.
